From Foundation to Impact: Humanoid Robotics Association sets the Next Strategic Priorities
On 14 August 2026, the founders of the Humanoid Robotics Association came together for an important strategic meeting. The objective was not simply to review what has been achieved since the association was founded, but to define where HRAS can create the greatest value for the robotics community in the months and years ahead.
Since its establishment, HRAS has developed rapidly. What started as an initiative to connect the emerging humanoid robotics ecosystem has evolved into a growing international network involving robotics manufacturers, research institutions, technology companies, industry partners and public-sector organisations.
The founders meeting marked another important milestone in this development.
Building the infrastructure for a growing ecosystem
One of the central topics of the meeting was how HRAS can further strengthen the infrastructure around humanoid robotics.
The industry is moving extraordinarily fast. New robots, foundation models, sensors, actuators and embodied AI technologies are entering the market at an accelerating pace. A key outcome of the meeting was the decision to further develop the Humanoid Robotics Association activities around Safety & Security.
Daniel and Francisco will lead the development of this initiative and work over the coming months on concepts that can evolve into concrete programmes and services for the ecosystem.
For HRAS, this topic goes beyond traditional robotics safety.
As robots become increasingly autonomous and connected to advanced AI systems, questions around hardware safety, cybersecurity, control mechanisms, system integrity and human interaction will become fundamental.
Manufacturers, AI companies, component suppliers, research institutions and industrial users will all need to contribute to establishing trusted frameworks.
HRAS wants to create a neutral environment where these stakeholders can work together.
Connecting Physical AI and Artificial Intelligence
Another major strategic direction discussed during the meeting is the closer connection between the worlds of artificial intelligence and robotics.
Humanoid robotics represents one of the most visible forms of Physical AI.
Large AI models are increasingly able to understand language, images and complex environments. The next major step will be bringing this intelligence into machines that can interact with the physical world.
Switzerland has a unique opportunity to become an important hub for this convergence.
HRAS therefore intends to further expand its relationships with the AI ecosystem and explore collaborations that bring robotics, embodied AI and artificial intelligence communities closer together.
One possibility currently being explored is stronger cooperation around the AI Weeks 2027, potentially creating an environment where Artificial Intelligence and Embodied AI can be presented as complementary parts of the same technological transformation.
From information to knowledge: the HRAS Content Hub
The rapid development of humanoid robotics creates another challenge: information is becoming increasingly fragmented.
New robots, technologies, research papers, investments, regulations and applications appear almost every day.
HRAS therefore plans to further develop its AI and Robotics Content Hub.
The ambition is to create a trusted source of information for the community, bringing together relevant developments from robotics, embodied AI, research and industry.
Daniel has offered to contribute to the further development of this initiative together with the Humanoid Robotics Association.
Strengthening the international network
The association is also becoming increasingly international.
HRAS is building relationships with robotics ecosystems in Europe and Asia while maintaining Switzerland as its central platform.
Recent developments include new connections with manufacturers and organisations in China, Southeast Asia and Europe.
The first membership applications resulting from these international activities are already emerging.
At the same time, HRAS is preparing additional international initiatives, including upcoming delegations and ecosystem exchanges that will bring robotics companies, research institutions and innovation organisations to Switzerland.
These activities are designed around one simple principle:
Robotics ecosystems should not develop in isolation.
The next generation of humanoid robotics will require international cooperation across technology, manufacturing, AI, standards, safety and industrial deployment.
The next chapter of HRAS
The founders meeting confirmed that HRAS is entering a new phase.
The initial foundation has been built.
